no news from my personal life so far ;) radom fact of the day: I'm gonna give a 7th grade girl from our school private lessons in maths. My maths teacher asked 'cause there are some in his 7th grade who really are bad at maths. I mocked him with suggesting that it might be him but he's too self assured therefore. I think he's a great teacher anyway ;) Well this is gonna be fun because my teacher said she is a totally helpless cause. We'll see, hihi
Anyway, what I actually wanted to write: I watched
Wolverine yesterday and can't help but write a little bit. I try to be as spoilerless as possible (some tiny ones only):
First off: Hugh Jackman is SOOOOOOO HOT *drools* You get to see him shirtless aaaaaand *drumroll* totally NAKED! bad thing, they cover as much as possible with tricky filming. And I even think the naked jumping down the waterfall was cgi (still some nice ass was visible *wohoo*), which brings me straight to the next point:
The effects... oh my god. Do you know it when you just discover photoshop and just can't help using all the nice filter and glittery brushes etc. etc. The result mostly just looks... uaarrg. I had the same feeling with the cgi effects. Some geeks discovering this wonderful new software with which you can shoot the film with more or less no requisites (counting in scenery as well) at all. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but there were MUCH to much effects. And sometimes they sucked so hard, I just sat there and woooaaaaw, this is a BLOCKBUSTER guys, where'd you put all the money in (if I wasn't the craziest Jackman fan on earth I'd cinically say: "Did this jackman beauty cost so much, humm?" but I don't). THE CLAWS *cries* just look at that
what did they do with my beloved claws? Wua, it's horrible. And when he's fighting or cutting through something you just see that he does not have any claws at all and they're just drawn in.
That sounds shocking, I know. And I AM shocked. The effects really did mess up that movie. I'm still hoping we sort of accidently got a bad copy (I once sat in a movie where you could see the microphones hanging down the upper edge of the screen) and the real version is better.
Anyway, that's just one thing. The movie was definitely good. I loved the camera work and the music (although sometimes a bit too pompous). The lightning and the atmosphere of the movie were awesome, a little bit darkish and grungy, not so clean and metallic as the three x-men movies. I think the costumes added a lot to that as well. They were just somehow not only realistic but real. And by the way, it was nice to see how Logan got to his characteristical leather jacket and although the death of the old couple was just cruel, it was a good thing for the movie which was (hard thing to say) much too less cruel and brutal.
I read the x-men origins: wolverine comic and I have to say, the movie didn't really get the brutality of it. It's 16+ in germany but I've seen movies much more cruel which are 12+. All the blood was out of camera. Usually I like that (I hate splatter) but the film would have needed that to show the brutality and cruelty of Logans life and wolverine himself. As Wolverine is NOT shiny and perfectly ethical I'd like to see more of the bad Wolverine to show his twisted character (more like the quote I used as title for example). I even think I got to see more of his character in the x-men movies. Here it was like 7 minutes of fighting logan in war and in the later "government" organisation but somehow from the very beginning he already had this "I don't do bad stuff, I'm the good guy" thing going on. I guess that's too much hollywood in there, to conclude this.
Hugh Jackman could do much more that that, you could see it in his eyes. He really is a great actor, he got all the emotions perfectly, the looks he gave his girlfriend and victor (no spoilers here^^)... WOW. Liev Schreiber (victor) did quite a good job as well although he was a little bit too ... "onesided" Gambit was really cool but his part was far too small ;D The guy who played stryker was a little bit 'pale' but his right hand Agent Zero covered it up...
The fat guy jokes (you'll know when you see it) were much too flat, just to mention it. But they did put in some nice laughs.
To sum it up: A nice entertaining movie with a great Hugh Jackman but as I had HIGHest expectations, of course I got disappointed a little. And I'm still hoping we got a bad copy, and I can't wait to see this in OV.
And it's totally worth watching just to see naked Hugh Jackman!!!
By the way: The new
The Mentalist episode was awesome. OMG, he bought her a pony???? How cute is that???
